Little Leaf Farms has signed a contract with VB Greenhouses, stating the intent to develop high-tech greenhouses in the U.S., according to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. This includes plans for a commercial greenhouse facility as an expansion of Little Leaf Farms’ leafy greens campus in Pennsylvania, where the company has 50 acres of sustainable greenhouse farming space. The release says that the proposed greenhouse will create the largest leafy greens campus in the world.

The agreement was signed during a visit by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands with Governor Josh Shapiro in Philadelphia, Pa.

CEO Roundtable and Dutch Horticulture Ties

As part of the visit, a CEO roundtable was held to discuss collaboration between the U.S. and the Netherlands, with the Dutch horticulture sector represented by VB Greenhouses and Rijk Zwann. Discussion of the horticulture sector focused on the resiliency and development of future-proof food systems, especially when strained by a variety of (both current and possible future) economic and societal factors.
