AeroFarms to Remain Open Thanks to Last-Minute Funding from Existing Stakeholder

Days after announcing that it was permanently closing its Virginia vertical farming operations due to a lack of funding, AeroFarms today announced that the company is continuing to operate and supply microgreens to customers and shoppers.

In a WARN notice filed with the Virginia Department of Workforce Development on Dec. 11, AeroFarms reported that it had been provided with sudden and unexpected notice that it would not be receiving the necessary funding it required to continue operations. Since that time, the company’s circumstances have evolved rapidly. An existing stakeholder has agreed to provide funding to AeroFarms, enabling the company to continue operations and explore strategic alternatives.
