After news that AeroFarms was permanently closing its Virginia vertical farming operations due to an investor withdrawing financial support, and then announcing that operations would continue after securing last-minute funding, the company has submitted a revised WARN notice for clarification. This update reports that the short-term funding it received only delayed the initial closure date of Dec. 19, 2025, to Jan. 16, 2026, at the latest.
With this new and fast-approaching deadline, the updated WARN notice announces that 18 primarily remote employees were temporarily furloughed on Dec. 19, 2025, and that the remaining 135 employees at the Ringgold, Va., facility would be permanently terminated if no further funding is secured by Jan. 16, 2026.
The WARN notice goes on to state that a small number of employees may remain after the anticipated closure in January to assist with the winding down of operations.
